First Report on Several NO-Donor Sets and Bidentate Schiff Base and Its Metal Complexes: Characterization and Antimicrobial Investigation

The condensation product of the reaction between aniline and salicylaldehyde was a 2-(2-hydroxybenzylidinemine)—aniline Schiff base bidentate ligand (L). L used to generate complexes by interacting with metal ions lanthanum(III), zirconium(IV), yttrium(III), copper(II), in addition cobalt(II). Various physicochemical techniques were utilized analyze synthesized its chelates, including elemental analysis (CHN), conductimetry (Λ), magnetic susceptibility investigations (μeff), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), proton nuclear resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible (UV-Vis.) spectrophotometry, thermal studies (TG/DTG). FT-IR revealed that molecule acted as binding via both oxygen atom phenolic group nitrogen azomethine group. Additionally, 1H NMR data indicated formation An octahedral geometrical structure for all chelates proposed according UV-Vis. spectra moment investigations. Thermal provided insight into pattern chelates’ breakdown. In addition, investigation furnished details on potential chemical formulas, characteristics adsorbed or lattice H2O molecules, water is coordinated but separated from at temperatures exceeding 120 °C. thermodynamic parameters utilizing Coats–Redfern Horowitz–Metzger equations studied. antimicrobial effectiveness against distinct species bacteria fungi studied using disc diffusion method. Cu(II) Y(III) had significant activity Staphylococcus aureus Micrococcus luteus.
